Day 4 (More of)

Another nice long lie in. Played a fair amount of Harry Potter OOTP on the 360 :-)
Got a fair bit of reading done too. The Cold Moon isn’t the kind of book that I would normally read. If I was in a book store I’d be nowhere near that section, but I’m really enjoying it and I do find myself just wandering onto the next chapter just to see what happens.

Been thinking about my future a bit recently, partly being fed up of living in my overdraft and not having any sort of qualifications apart from the Academy. I mean yes I have the experience of 4 years at university but I did leave without my degree. I don’t regret that decision, I’m thinking maybe my attention should be turned to a different subject.
So having thought about my “5 year plan”, it is as follows:
1. Pay off the MacBook (£600).
2. Clear my overdraft and start living in the black (£1600 overdraft + whatever amount needed to stay in black).
3. Start saving to pay for an introductory course and then a diploma in Counselling, and find a suitable institiuation for such a course.
4. Get a higher paying job, ideally without leaving AQ (and believe me that is likey to take a loooooong time) in order to speed all of the above up.

I’m not going to be totally unrealistic and hope for it all within a year of two, that’s just not going to happen. Yeah I’ll probably be 30 before I start my course but if it’s something that I want to do then it’ll still be an option by then.

Day 4

Here is a picture of Meeko enjoying the nice sunshine we are having. I opened up the window (door style) and he’s quite enjoying glancing out, but when there is a we gust of wind he comes running back inside and hides behind me lol.

Day 3

Not a huge amount to report today. Played a bit of World Of Warcraft, started reading a new book The Cold Moon by Jeffery Deaver.
I opted to do a bit of cross stitch today, it was the Oriental Beauty cover kit from the recent issue of Cross Stitcher

After some deliberation I changed my magazing subscription from Cross Stitcher to Simply Knitting, purely because I’m getting fed up of Cross Stitcher, even the new look I was rather unimpressed with and I’m also a bit fed up of the cover kits building up in my basket.
I also think that changing magazine will help spur me on with my knitting and I just love to get things in the post. It’s a strange thing, but just getting something in the mail makes me think someone out thereis thinking of me. Lol how silly.

So that was about it, there wasn’t enough of the stitching done to warrent a photo, maybe I’ll get more done on it today, th magazine says it’s a 12 hour project.

Anyway, tata!

Day 2’s Photos

So daylight is here and here is the photo of me wearing my first knitting success :-)

I know I finished this cushion ages aho but I never got around to putting a picture up, so I thought while I was taking photos I’d throw this one in for you!

Day 2

I didn’t get my scarf finished yesterday and there’s a very good reason for that. A very bit tangled reason if you catch my drift. It seems one of the balls I recreated turned into a gaint knot, probably with the help of the kitten. It took a fair amount of today to untangle it all, but I managed it and I got my scarf finished this evening. Due to it being dark outside and the inside light not really suitable for showing it’s colour I’m going to leave taking a photo until tomorrow and I’ll post it up then.
I’m very happy with the scarf this time as I cast on 30 stitches and at no point did I have any more or less than 30 and the casting off went perfectly this time. lol.

I have another scarf on the go, though the next project in my book is to make a bag, I don’t really have the yarn for it. I did get some more yarn from Chris’ mum today but again it’s more suitable for a scarf, so I’ve got yarn enough for 3 scarves, one of which I’ve already finished, one that I’ve started and one still to be done. The difference with the one I’ve not started is that I have 2 balls of yarn for it and they are different colours so I was hoping to maybe alternate the colours. For that I will need to look into how to join when it’s two different colours as I think it’s slightly different in order to make it look better.

Chris came back from Carluke at about 1130 and suggested we go into town because it was such a nice day, so we did, but 2 minutes before we left the house it started to rain and it was pretty much the same for the entire trip in town. Thankfully it’s only bad weather if you think rain is bad. We still both had a lovely afternoon. Chris treated me to 2 new tops and a pair of earrings and one of those masks you wear when you sleep which says “Grumpy…but Gorgeous” on it. :-)

I haven’t managed to get any reading done yet, I’ll do some tomorrow. Unfortunately I’m going to have to cut this post short as the kitten has just produced a number 2 and I have to go clear it up before the smell knocks me out.

P.S. I installed World Of Warcraft and got a fresh subscription to it. Bad of me I know but hey ;-)

Day 1

So I’m now on holiday from work, mon-fri plus the weekend on either side. 9 whole days :-)
Today is day 1.
Had a nice loooooong lie in, had a yummy pair of rolls and sausage for my breakfast and I’ve been watching some Star Trek Next Generation season 3 while I’ve been knitting away at that scarf that I did a week or so ago before I unravelled it all (think that might be called frogging but I’d need some confirmation on that one).

It’s coming along really well given that I only started it last night, it’s so very nearly finished. I daresay if I stuck at it the way I have done for most of the day I’d get it finished tonight. I’m getting faster at doing my knits and purls but also better. The last time I did that scarf I cast on 30, dropped 2 stitches at some point during my knitting which resulted in rather large holes, but I still managed to end u pwith 34 stitches cast onto the needles. I have no idea how it happened but it’s probably just as well that I messed up the casting off because now I am making a much better scarf.

Chris went back to see his parents this afternoon so it has been just Meeko and I for the rest of this afternoon, he’s been very good and snoozing away on my lap while I’ve been knitting. I’ve just fed him, and am now about to feed myself.

On tonights agenda, well I think I’ll try and get that scarf finished. I’ve got some reading on knitting gauges to do because I know nothing about them, and I might read a little bit more of my Harry Potter book. I do have another book that was given to me by a work friend, Ruth, which I’d like to get read during my holiday too. All the while Meeko will probably be going bonkers around the house and the tv will be on in the background.

On a cute note here is a photo I took of Meeko cuddling up with an anteater which he’d been attacking for about 30 minutes prior :-)

Feeling Groovy do do do do

Well here’s another post to report that not much has been going on.
I’ve just been working slowly on my swatches. Hopefully get them finished this weekend and move onto something a bit more challenging.
I’ve got all of next week off work as a holiday. I plan to just sit on my bum and read, knit, stitch, play with kitty and watch tv. I don’t want to do anything else. just be lazy :-)

You never know I might make some actualy progress on something worth posting a picture of! We’ll see.

Argh

Slept from 7pm last night to 7am this morning, therefore none of the knitting I had planned went ahead.
Damn migraine. Still at least I don’t get them that often anymore.

Chris and I are going to see Transformers tonight. Not sure how much I’m actually looking forward to it. I have a feeling it’s going to be pretty naff, but I’ll go and see anyway.

Everything and Nothing

That’s pretty much what I’ve been up to. Knitting here and there, reading The Goblet Of Fire (which I’ve read before but it was so long ago) and watching Prison Break.

I have nothing to really show for the knitting just yet, I’ve just been doing some sample work. I’m still lacking in the confidence to move onto something that doesn’t resemble a scarf. I don’t want to rush things though, I’m taking my time to enjoy it. I attempted to start something yesterday but had to frog it twice so I decided to put it to one side rather than get all mad about it and get in a tangle.

I got a copy of the latest CrossStitcher in the post yesterday. I wasn’t too fussed for any of the designs in there and I have to say I’m a little unimpressed by the “new look” the magazine has taken. It’s not really any different. I’ve been thinking about switching my subscription to Simply Knitting. I by no means want to leave my cross stitch behind though, but it’s nice to have two crafty hobbies. I have often been fed up with cross stitching all the time and wished I could do something else crafty to occupy my time.

I’m quite a person to indulge in my current fad, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. Why shouldn’t I? I should listen to my dark side. ;-)

Different Look

I’ve gotten bored with the old theme and wanted a change, so I’ve got this simple theme on just now. I might change it again soon, or I might just alter this one to suit. I don’t like the categories and archive being at the top because I don’t think they are particularily important, but I am in work so I can’t change them from here. I’ll get round to it at some point :-)

Finished My Scarf!

Yeah! Last night I finally finished my first proper knitting project!

Everything went great. Even the casting off which I had obviously never done before. Then I was left with 1 stitch on the RH needle. I followed the instructions and was told to pull the yarn to tighten the knot…but it started to unravel!!
So it’s ruined. It was that crazy eyelash yarn, i think that’s what it’s called. So I found it impossible to try and undo the damage because I couldn’t see any loops because of the yarn.

Anyway I decided to keep unravelling and to my amazement I got back my 3 balls of yarn, no knots, I didn’t have to cut the yarn.

I’m not too dissapointed. The scarf had holes and dropped stitched, but for my first attempt it wasn’t bad…but I’d never have worn the scarf outside lol

I figure I’ve got my yarn back I can knit it again and this time it will be better.

I thought i’d have been totally distraught if something like that happened, to mess it up on the very last stitch, but I proved that I could do it.

I then decided to cast on some stitches, knit a few rows and to try and cast off again, it ended up like a scarf for a Barbie doll. But this time when I did my casting off, I did it right!!

Woooooo! So I know I can do it. I’m actually quite happy.

It’s almost like I get more value for money with my yarn because I can use it again lol.

Anyway just thought I’d share my first every knitting experience

Knit Purl Knit Purl

I finally learned how to Purl!!! It’s only been on my to do list for like YEARS!

So now I’m knitting yet another scarf but this time I know what I’m doing all thanks to Knitting For Dummies!
I’ve not been cross stitching but at least I’m staying crafty.

I went to see the new Harry Potter movie, loved it. Reading all the books again in preperation for the final book which I have pre-ordered. It’s quite epic to read all of them one after the other the way I am doing. Quite a long journey I’m embarking on.

I’ve decided to get a new laptop so I should be getting my new MacBook soon! :-) Much lookingforward to it.

I was thinking about giving my blog a bit of a make over probably just a change of theme, any ideas?

Double Darn

So I didn’t put the pictures up last night, but it’s not because I went to the cinema instead.
Was a bit ill last night so slept most of my evening then got up, and sorted out my iBook, because it’s been sold. Took everything I wanted off and installed a nice fresh copy of Mac OS X.
So my question to you readers is:

What do I do with the money?

Should i put it towards a new laptop? Use it to reduce my overdraft? Get a new wardrobe?
What do you think? Comments are on and if you have any different suggesions then feel free to voice :-)

Quick! Arrest That Tree!

Some things just really baffle me, like this news story

Must also apologise for not putting those pictures up yesterday, doh! Will try and do it tonight if I am not at the cinema watching Shrek The Third :-)

Oh, What To Listen To?

I’m bored of the CDs I have in work. I’m sick of listening to the same stuff. I think at lunchtime I’m going to take my CD wallet home and have a good switch about of music.

I’ve managed to get back into my stitching and have 2 finished kits to show you pictures of which I will do later. One of them is a Humphrey’s Corner design which I framed and gave to Chris’ mum for her birthday, the other was the Winnie The Pooh ‘Group Hug’ cushion which I started so long ago but put away because I was so sick of the sight of that gold colour that you stitch Pooh in. He’s a big character and it’s a lot of gold. It can get very boring and demoralising stitching the same colour over a vast area. But when I moved into the new flat (Oh I moved house btw ;-P ) I unpacked all my stitching stuff properly and decided to give it another bash. Once I had gotten the gold out of the way it was pretty plain sailing. The hardest bit was sewing the cord to the surround of the cushion, and the whole ‘making it into a cushion’ was quite time consuming as I don’t have a sewing machine anymore. Me thinks it’s time to invest in a new one.

So they are both all finished now and it felt good to actually have finished something. I have done a few small cover kit type things from magazines too, just to get me back into the habit. I’ve now started on my Thomas Kinkade ‘Stillwater Bridge’.
It’s the first kit that I’ve had that has the design printed onto the fabric, but in all honesty, it doesn’t help with the stitching. In fact trying to follow the chart and the fabric is quite hard.

So I will upload pictures later and blog them.

Chris and I moved in together. It’s a gorgeous flat, 2 bedroom, master en-suite. We’ve got our gorgeous kitten, Meeko. I will also put a picture of him up too. He was so tiny when we got him, and now after only 3 weeks he’s looking all grown up. He’s got bags of energy and has given Chris and I a fair few good laughs with his daft behaviour.

It was my nephew Cameron’s birthday recently, so I hope he liked his presents and his visit to his grandparents. Happy birthday kid!

The migraines are still keeping themselves at bay. The feverfew has worked wonders and I’ve even managed to drop to 1 dose of 20 drops a day rather than 2 doses, and even then, I am forgetting to take it everyday so I will sometimes miss a day, but my brain hasn’t had a hissy fit about it.
